Today we will introduce the production process of paper gift box: Printing → Surface Finishing → Outer Laminating Die-cutting → Grey Board Die-cutting → Grey Board Slotting → Grey Board Forming → Outer Laminating → Assembly → Inspection → Packing

(1) / Paper Selection

Consider the type of paper, such as coated paper, art paper, pearl paper, etc.

Consider the thickness of the paper. The paper cannot be too thick, otherwise it may wrinkle during laminating. It cannot be too thin, otherwise the embossing effect cannot be fully realized.

Consider the effect of surface finishing.

Reverse polishing

Film lamination (glossy, matte, tactile, scratch-resistant, etc.)

Hot stamping (gold, red gold, rainbow gold, silver, laser, etc.)

(3) / Grey Board Selection

Grey board is made from recycled waste paper and is mainly divided into single grey, double grey, full grey, and high-gloss, depending on the customer's requirements for surface smoothness. Grey paper is an environmentally friendly packaging material. There is no upper limit in special cases. Usually, appropriate grey board size is selected based on the gift box specifications.

(4) / Die-cutting

The paper gift box requires high technology in die-cutting, and the precision and accuracy of die-cutting directly affect the quality of subsequent processes. It will also directly determine the quality of the product.

This process emphasizes the importance of selecting appropriate materials and perfecting each step to ensure the high quality and durability of the paper gift box.

(5) / Slotting is a key step in the production of gift boxes. It involves using a slotting machine to cut V-shaped grooves into greyboard that is between 1-4mm thick. Typically, a connecting layer of around 0.25mm is left intact. The V-shaped grooves have angles of 90 or 120 degrees, although other angles can be selected depending on the product's structure. The grooves must result in the greyboard being bent outward and the interior being flat with sharp edges and perfect corners.

(6) / Depending on the product requirements, materials such as copperplate paper, art paper, velvet, leather, etc. are glued together with the greyboard using a gluing machine or by spraying adhesive. This process unifies the two materials and gives the greyboard a new appearance. For most packaging boxes, the pasting process is completed after die-cutting. However, for gift boxes intended for pasting, the die-cutting process is done beforehand. This is because it prevents the outer packaging material from getting dirty, which would affect its overall appearance. Additionally, by pasting after die-cutting, the support frame is completely covered, which allows the greyboard's grey color to be concealed with the new and innovative outer packaging material design. The result is a beautiful work of art. Finally, some complex box structures still need manual pasting, which cannot be substituted by machines.
